Blakes Heaven 2010 Junior Report

The setting for the 1st CFR Junior championship race of 2010, Blake's Heaven, which took place last Saturday, was an unusually bright and sunny Lamplugh. This provided an awesome backdrop for the forty or so youngsters who turned out for this fantastic season opener. The course involved laps of the undulating lower slopes of Owsen Fell with the U16s tackling the summit and the U18s following the tough senior course.

The U8s race kicked off the proceedings following the fully flagged course at 11:00 am, Millie Park won the girls race in 7:20 followed by Abigail Smith in 8:22 and Rachael Kellet in 10:14. Molly Robinson and Louisa Graham finished in a well run 10:40 and 11:00 respectively. First U8 boy was Mathew Egglestone in a time of 8:35 who took the only CFR championship points followed by Evan Lydon, unattached, in a well run 9:35.

In the U10s race Elsa Whelan brought the girls, and only CFR championship points, home in 10:16 followed very closely by Hannah Lydon, unattached, in 10:18. Nathan Smith was first U10 boy returning in a time of 6:08 followed by Robert Farrar in 6:20, Joseph Dugdale in 6:42 and closely by Zac Anderson in 6:44. Samuel Graham and Billy Robinson finished in a well earned 7:45 and 10:12 respectively.

U12s were next off the line, Rebecca Buchanan was first back for the girls in 10:38 followed by Niamh Hedley in 11:20, Cerys Atkinson in 11:40 and Kerry Regan in a time of 11:58. Bramble Park got round in 12:03 followed by Kayleigh Egglestone in a well run 15:05. Oliver Dawson was the first U12 Boy in a time of 9:52 followed by David King in 10:17, and Kieran Riley in a well deserved 11:52.

In the U14 girls race Ellen Regan was first back in 12:17 followed by Tania Wilson of Seaton AC in 12:43 and closely by Lucy Whelan in 12:55. Tom Wright won the boys race in a time of 9:15 with Cieran Simpson taking second place in a time of 14:52.

The U16 girls race was won by Molly Wilkinson in a time of 22:02, Michela Kellet started well but unfortunately later retired from the race. In the boys race Nathan Thompson won in 15:29 followed by Thomas and William King in 15:53 and 16:13 respectively. Billy Edmondson of Ellenborough finished in 16:58 followed by Ross Coles, unattached, in 19:15. Jack Taylor picked up 4th CFR runner in a well run time of 21:42.

Finally the U18s set off at 12:00pm with the senior race to follow the 4.5 mile course, Duncan Eastoe (17th overall) won in a time of 37:16 followed by Mathew Alexio (30th overall) in 40:46 and Jamie Riley (64th overall) in a well run 46:05.
