On a warm and sunny June Saturday, 30 CFR Juniors lined up for their 6th championship race of 2010. With just two races left the 2010 Championship is drawing to a close. The Godsworth race features a fast out and back course along the track leading to the slopes of Godsworth, with the older runners tackling the fell itself.
The U8s race was first off at 11:00am, Abigail Smith won the girls race in 8:20 followed by Anna Mason in 8:28 and Olivia Fearon in 9:50. Jemma Atkinson and Cerys Simpson both followed closely in 10:29 and 11:00 respectively. First U8 boy was Mathew Egglestone in a time of 8:40 followed by Barnaby Walkingshaw in 9:30, closely by Eughan Simpson in 9:35 and Kyle Anderson in a well run 10:28.
In the U10 girls race Olivia Mason was the victor in 7:30 followed closely by Niamh Hunter in 8:28. Nathan Smith was first U10 boy returning in a time of 6:29 followed by Joseph Dugdale in 6:45, Robert Farrar in 7:03, Zac Anderson in 7:20 and closely by Thomas Adams in 7:51.
U12s were next off the line, Rebecca Buchanan was first back in the girls race in 11:55 followed by Niamh Hedley in 12:15, Cerys Atkinson in 12:45, Tiffany Penfold in 13:48 and Kayleigh Egglestone in a well run 15:17. Joseph Atkinson was the first U12 boy in a time of 12:16 followed closely by Dale Atkinson in 12:56 and Mark Brailey in a well deserved time of 12:59.
In the U14 boys race Tom Wright won in 10:04 followed quickly by Joseph Smith in 11:18 and Cieran Simpson in a well run 15:02.
Alice Rea took full championship points in the U16 girls race in a time of 17:07. In the boys race Jack Taylor also took maximum points, winning in 15:47.
In the U18 mens race Duncan Eastoe won in a time of 13:31.
The next CFR Junior Championship race is the Nannycatch Loop on Saturday 17th July, first race is off at 11:00 am from the Nannycatch car park, near Wath Brow, Cleator Moor. Full details can be found here.
